Homespun Baby Afghan

I was suppose to finish the Lacy Days of Summer top but I hit a little glitch! In stead of tearing it all out, I decided to take a break from it. My husband wanted me to crochet a baby blanket for a friend so I thought it would be a good time to start. I started yesturday and I finished it today! Not bad at all.

The blanket is made from 3 skeins of Homespun Yarn. I love the yarn, it's soooo soft. It worked up fast with a size N crochet hook. The pattern is from: http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/babyghan.htm

The afghan is actually lavender but the in the picture it looks blue...It's so easy to make and fast! I modified the edging a bit. As always, I'm always glad to complete a project. Mission complete!!!

Baby Booties

I'm still working on the "lacy days of summer" top. I finished the front and back fan piece. I decided to take a little break and make my 1st pair of booties. I purchased the pattern from etsy for $3.00. (I don't have the link on hand right now...) It is so worth it! All the booties were adorable. This is going to be for my newphew's son so I didn't make the cuffs. (I messed up a little sewing the top of the bootie). I love the way they look!
These booties are called Cross your Heart - Crocheted Booties by Cheryl Mason.
I purchased more yarn yesturday (and also today). Did I already mention that I was a yarn junkie? My next project will be a sleeveless top with Red Heart Light & Lofty yarn. I purchased new knitting hooks too. They are a size 15. Hopefully, it'll be a easy project that will work up super fast. I am going to attempt to try knitting again after I finish my lacy days of summer top.
I did not know there's a hook out there that's a size 7 until recently. The size 7 aluminum crochet hook is super small, but this size 7 is 4.5mm. I started to make a crocheted string bag yesturday (okay, so I have several ongoing project but I'm going to make the Lacy Days of Summer Top my top priority). I keep learning something new all the time!

Mommy Story and The Fashion Top Completed!

My daughter does not like stuff animals. Usually she takes them and just throws them on the floor and that's the end of it.

Yesturday, while I was at the market I had to play the "drop and grab" game. It was calling me.

I only had 50 cents (No dollar bills and no other quarters). What the heck, since there are new stuff animals in the machine. I wasn't feeling very lucky, but the arm drops and I grabbed for a yellow "goofy" dog. It barely got the legs so I'm doubtful. Yes, it's going to make it. Score!

I'm like a big kid. I gave it to my daughter in the car and she just drops it on the floor! Oh well.

Later during the day, I see the dog in various places. I ask my husband if he moved it, and he said no. I actually saw her with the dog a few times. Now this morning, I put the dog next to my daughter and she was playing with it, if only for a few minutes! I love being a mommy...I have a great daugher :D!

Now on to crochet.....

Here's the completed project! I finished this on Saturday, day before Father's Day! (My husband laughs at me because I cropped my face out of the photo)! My "1st" again using THREAD! Size 3, Aunt Lydia thread! It was fun and I love the top. I love the look of thread and I love the stitch. I had to redo part of the back but no problem. Next time, I will make it in a medium. It's too small but that's okay. Another lesson for the books.

I purchased another set of knitting needles. 4.5. I was going to make an "easy" top. I looked through the book (SnB, Knitting) and started to cast on and even made several rows of knitting (purl too)! This project will have to be for another time. Knitting will take me too long!

My current project is the "lacy days of summer" top. I will probably make it into a baby doll top. I love how this top looks and what some of the other crocheters have made. It's an "experience" pattern so I was a little scared. It's taking me several tries to get it right, but I think I got it now. Take a look! Can't wait to finish this one :D!

Summer Top

These last two weeks just "flew by". I had visitors and it was GREAT. In the mean time, I bought and received several crochet books and 2 crochet magazines (Interweave and Crochet Today - both are new to me and I LOVE THEM!). I finally bought the SnB by Happy Hooker for Crocheting (just got the SnB Knitting yesturday) and Fabulous Crochet by Babe. Both crochet books are excellent and I have so many projects I want to do but just so little time! I'm surprised I find the time in between watching my 1 year old daughter - who will be 2 in less than 2 months! :D :D :D
Here's a photo of my current project. It's always a first...my first
project using thread, size 3 aunt lydia using a E hook. I finished the back and now I am in the process of making the front. I can't wait until it's done. It's taking longer than regular yarn (of course) but I like the way it looks! Pretty cool :D. I'm worried that it may be too small. Just have to finish and try it on.
I'm antsy and ready to jump into another project. I bought 12 skeins of luster sheens on ebay. Just got it today... I'm like a kid in a candy store. I want to make the baby empress top, bikini set, etc...
I just bought more yarn today and another set of knitting needles, ( I have not used the first pair - I bought last week, I'm going to make a shawl using maxtrix yarn), 2 big balls of bernat yarn because I want to give knitting a try! I have to stop myself from jumping in. So, I'll keep tredging along and finish this top! :D

Finished Crochet Dress

I'm happy to say that I finished my 1st crochet dress! I was able to turn the project into a dress.

It was surprising journey in crocheting. No rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes I added to the top and sometimes to the bottom of the dress.

I started out with 5 rows to a pattern and from there on it's anything goes. My own ideals.

This took about a week. I had to stop and finish a baby blanket project in the middle.

Here's a picture of the dress!

:D
